Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has warned UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres that Tehran is ready for a "decisive and regrettable" response if Israel attacks Iran in response to the October 1 missile attack.

Iran fired about 200 missiles at Israel on October 1, taking revenge for the assassination of two of its closest allies, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh and Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, as well as an Iranian general, writes arabnews.com.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant vowed last week that his country's response would be "deadly, precise."

"Iran, making all efforts to protect the peace and security of the region, is fully ready to give a decisive and regrettable response to any Israeli adventure," Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said during a telephone conversation with Guterres.

During a telephone conversation on Tuesday evening, Araghchi also called on the United Nations to use its resources to "stop the crimes and aggressions of the Israeli regime and send humanitarian aid to Lebanon and Gaza".

In the past week, Iran's foreign minister visited Lebanon, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iraq and Oman, trying to ease tensions in the region.
